  The Roseland 5-a-side Football Trophy (Winners 2008 & 2009)

We have two football clubs and lots of matches. Our coach is Mr Abbott who once claimed he used to be a great goalie but no-one believes him! We have matches against other schools and enter competitions. We have twice won the county T-Broad Shield and one year we came second at the National Finals in Keele.

Steve Flack runs a Saturday football club which is very successful too!

The Roseland Primary Schools' Netball Trophy (Winners 2008/09).

We have a great Netball Club run by Mrs Luscombe who is still a good netball player! We play matches against other schools and enter the area competitions. Boys and girls play netball....

We have a great tag rugby tradition at our school and play lots of matches in all sorts of weather! Mr Adams (he used to be a tiger of a scrum half!) is our rugby coach and on Friday you can expect upwards of 30 children to attend. We play in tournaments in the Roseland area. Some dads also help out...and we all support The Cornish Pirates!

We do lots of swimming as part of the curriculum. We go to Truro College each Friday for lessons for two terms a year. We have three main groups, Beginners, Improvers and Advanced. Ray is our pool coach and each year we train for our Personal Survival awards. We also have a sponsored swim in June and a fun gala in July. Mr Bowyer is in charge of swimming.....SPLASH!

Each year we have two camps, one at Porthpean for Year 5 (3 days) and one on the Isles of Scilly for Year 6 (5 days). We get to do all sorts of outdoor sports and have exciting adventures.....it really is the best time ever!

We do a lot of dance projects. Each Christmas the juniors perform to their parents at our Performing Arts Evening. We also have other special times like in the summer when we have themed weeks. Mrs Sharpe is our dance guru....

Three times a week we start the day with Wake and Shake which really gets us in the mood for working. It's such fun and anyone can do it...even Mr Adams tries but gets all the moves muddled up! Angie is brilliant at it so she's our chosen leader....

Each week on Fridays you can read all about our clubs and fixtures in our newsletter. If you want, you can even read through all the newsletters for this year on this site

We have a great Short Tennis Club for the younger ones. Mrs Berryman is our tennis teacher and we meet on Tuesdays after school.

We have a great Cricket set up in our school. Mr Adams is a great cricketer and we love taking part in the 'Chance to Shine' scheme in the summer. We get a cricket coach and have two clubs, softball on Thursdays after school and hardball on Fridays at the Roseland Sports Hall. We enter lots of competitions (Boys, Girls, Y6, Y5...) and do very well. Some of the best cricketers get a chance to play for the county and some then go on to tour South Africa at U13 level. Cricket is our biggest summer sports club....come and join in!

We belong to the School Sports Coordinators' Scheme and take part in lots of festivals throughout the year. Some of the fun activities are orienteering (Y6), multi-sports (Y2) and Outdoor School (Y2). We also learn to play golf in the Spring Term with Mr Plester and join in at the new Roseland Sports Hall where we meet lots of children from the other primary schools in the area. Mrs Berryman is our PE coordinator and she always makes sure we enter everything.

We have a good Athletics Club in the summer run by Mrs Luscombe and Mr Abbott. We do track and field events and enter teams in the area athletics meeting. Sometimes, if we have good enough times and distances, we get to compete in the county finals. In the winter we have a very successful Cross Country Club meeting on Tuesdays after school. We also take part in all the events and even get into the county finals some years. Mr Cockings and Mrs Faull are our runners...we regularly clock up a mile with a smile! It gets us ready for our annual Easter Egg Race (usually for RND or Sports Relief).

Sports Day is great fun. We have four colour teams, captains and vice-captains. The teachers even get involved but they're way too old to compete! The afternoon is split into two parts, a carousel of skills activities and traditional races. The winning team gets to parade the cup.

On Saturdays we have a successful Gymnastics Club which you can join and take badges.

We get two PE lessons a week and have brilliant facilities both indoor and outdoor.  So you can see we are a good school for sports and we like to think this helps us keep fit and healthy. To find out more why not read through our newsletters. You can also find some sports articles in our Hall of Fame.
